Skin Cancer – Procedure and Recovery – Houston

Published on January 17, 2014

Skin CancerSkin cancer is one of the most common forms of cancer that is diagnosed. There are different types of skin cancers, and it is important to learn as much as possible about this condition if you are concerned about your skin’s health. Consulting with a board-certified plastic surgeon like Dr. Fred Bressler is a key step in early detection if you are worried about skin cancer.

Typically, most cases of skin cancer are basal cell carcinoma. Luckily, this type of cancer is the least dangerous and slowest to form. If left untreated, however, basal cell carcinoma can spread deeper into the skin. There is also squamous cell carcinoma and malignant melanoma. Squamous cell carcinoma often appears on the lips, face and ears but is also slow to develop. The most dangerous and least common is malignant melanoma, which is often life-threatening.
